Best New Gadgets, Apps and Startups
iOS 9 became officially available this week and that included the launch of several (increasingly popular) ad blocking apps for the iPhone. Every week I’m amazed at all the great stuff that gets released that sort of flies under the radar and that’s exactly why this series exists: to keep you informed of the best new tech whether it’s big or small, hardware or software, free or slave… wait. Before you get any further, though, make sure to check out last week’s list of the 10 best new gadgets, apps and startups
unSend.it – Unsend Any Email or Text Message
unSend.it is a great new service that lets you un-send any email you’ve sent. Obviously this could come in handy in a variety of situations, but the long and the short of it is this: you don’t ever have to regret sending an email again. As cool as that is, though, the best feature might be the ability to edit previously sent emails. Well, either that or the ability to track opened mail (just like the AOL of old) or the ability to send self-destructing emails.

Halo Back Smart Screen Protector
This is ingenious. No wonder it got backed by over 8,000 people on Kickstarter. It’s the Halo Back smart screen protector and it does one very important thing: it adds the equivalent of a back button to your giant phablet so you don’t have to re-adjust your grip just to hit the back button on the top left corner of most iPhone apps. Oh and it also protects your screen.

CUJO Internet of Things Security Device
Smart Homes are great, but how secure are they? There are a lot of horror stories surfacing of smart appliances and gadgets getting hacked. Remember that parent who walked in on their baby’s room while a stranger was saying terrible things to their kid via a hacked baby monitor? That’s why we need a smart home security device like the CUJO which protects your connected devices like smart thermostats, smart TVs, smart door locks and yes, Internet-connected baby monitors.

Copyfeed Mac and iOS Clipboard Management App
If you own an Apple product (including an iPhone, iPad or Mac), how much copying and pasting do you do? I do A LOT. There are several emails I get which would get the same response, for instance, so I copy and paste that (that actually sounds bad doesn’t it ?). Well Copyfeed lets you share a clipboard history between all of your Apple devices. That makes it a super-useful productivity app.

Dobot Robotic Arm for Your Desk
So you’ve probably seen those robotic arms on TV or somewhere that “work” in car factories assembling stuff, right? Well the Dobot is a robotic arm for your desk. Seriously! It can do all kinds of things, although I’m not sure exactly how useful this will be to consumers YET, but you can control it by voice and it’s fully programmable. A robotic arm in your home — that’s just crazy (as in crazy cool)!

Notion Wireless Home Monitoring Sensors
The Notion wireless home monitoring sensors definitely deserve a mention. What I like about these is that they monitor for a variety of things using just one type of sensor. They can alert you if a door or window is open, they can tell you about the temperature or let you know if there’s a water leak and they can also tell you if a smoke alarm goes off even if you’re not at home. And it looks like the accompanying app is fairly nice as well.

Casitoo Modular Powerstrip
Power strips are boring, right? Well, yes, but not this power strip. It’s the Casitoo modular power strip and it’s highly customizable. This is actually a really important product because power strips are used by billions of people in home and offices and up until this point they’ve been anything but smart. The Casitoo, though, is different because it lets you add as many plugs as you need (thus reducing clutter) and has other connectable components that can be added for wireless charging, power LAN, a smart hub, USB outlets and even a speaker or light.

New iRobot Roomba 980 Vacuum
Roomba’s have been around forever in tech terms but there’s a new Roomba out, the 980, that is quite a bit smarter than previous generations. Why? It’s got smart navigation so it actually maps out your home. Plus it automatically increases power on carpets where it’s needed most. Another great feature is that it’s more powerful which means it can clean and entire floor of your house on one charge.
